The Orbital Newsletter #6

Release Date 01.04.2026

Week of March 23 - April 1

The Intro

Yo, cultivators! It’s been another Tau Ceti week. What that means, I leave it for you all the guess. The simulation is growing, that much is certain. The complexity is off the charts. We’re working flat out to iron out problems and excited to welcome new cultivators and open new lands… Check out below some of the news.

The Numbers

  • 600 Hours Played: Our Cultivators are clocking in serious time!

  • Bugs & Beyond: We are currently reviewing Health feature feedback and getting it fit and ready. The numbers aren’t worth talking about, or you can’t put a price on good health!?

The Dev Voice

"When spawning a new society, you will now go through lobbies: They will make sure that you have at least 2 friends to team up with, and battle against the elements of Avesta! (Yes, 2, not 4: we hear you 😉). Also, do you remember that slightly clunky system for equipping clothing? Well, it's getting a nice boost soon!" - Mike Krolikowski, game dev

The Forge

The Night Shift Just Got Brighter

As we roll out the "Player Lighting" update, our artists have been busy crafting a suite of illumination tools to keep your societies running after sunset. From sleek, towering streetlights that guide Seedlings through the cityscape to subtle wall-mounted glow-strips, we are moving toward a world where light is a precious resource you control.

Mood & Ambiance

Inside the home, the variety is even greater. Whether it's the warm, diffused glow of a floor orb or the focused beam of a task lamp, the lighting score of your rooms will now directly impact Seedling mood. A well-lit kitchen fosters efficiency, but remember: Seedlings struggle to sleep in "Bright" rooms. Balance is key.

The Patch Highlight: Release 0.2.5

The "Why" Behind the Heartbreak: This week’s rework of Seedling Relationships (V4) moves away from "proximity = love." We’ve introduced Compatibility and Asymmetric Values. Why? Because real relationships are messy. A Seedling might feel a deep "Romance" for a neighbor who only sees them as a "Rival." By giving Seedlings the agency to have autonomous meetings and remember past conversations, we are making the social fabric of Avesta as complex as its… economy. But we’re not saying that love is quite as transactional. Or maybe it is? Share with us your Seedlings’ view of love and romance!

The Avesta Archive: Metahaven

Final_Shot.png

The latest entry in our lore series takes us to Metahaven, almost mythical advance city-state on the mainland of Verdantis. Often cited as the source for the a lot of Seedling culture and trends, Metahaven represents humanity 2.0’s attempt to categorize a world that refuses to be tamed.

Check out the blog entry here.

Whether you’re hunting for Easter eggs in your Growboxes or mediating a romantic dispute between incompatible Seedlings, keep cultivating.

See you on the island of… Lusen!
