SEED Patch Notes - 0.57

Release Date

Release Date: 08/06/2025

🌟 Summary

This update introduces a brand new gameplay progression, significantly improves Seedling migration with new UI clarity, and brings NPC buy and sell orders to all Societies. We've also completely redesigned the Society selection experience and squashed numerous bugs, including fixes for Seedlings getting stuck, eating issues, and more!

🛠 Major Changes & New Features

New Gameplay Progression

  • Direct Control Emphasis: The first moments of your journey will now focus on direct, hands-on control. You will personally instruct your Seedling to perform foundational tasks (e.g., 'Harvest Wood', 'Forage Algae').

    • You can now see what your Seedlings are carrying above their heads.

    • You can also craft directly from machines. Simply click on the machine, and you can produce from there. To queue up tasks, press shift before selecting a task. For example: Click on a tree, choose the harvest option. Then click on a second tree, press shift, and click harvest. This will queue up harvesting in your Seedling's tasks.

  • Understanding the Core Loop: Performing these actions manually will grant you resources directly (e.g., Raw Wood) and level up the associated skill. This is designed to make the core progression loop of Action -> Resource -> Skill Up clear and tangible from the very beginning.

  • By the end of this period, you will have:

    • Leveled up several core skills.

    • Amassed a small stockpile of essential resources.

    • Unlocked their first Schematic.

  • Unlocking Schematics: When you level up, you will have the ability to unlock schematics, allowing your Seedling to craft more items.

  • This system is already in place for Wood, Algae, and Water. More materials are being mapped out and added soon.

  • New production chains will be added throughout the play session. So, don’t panic if you don't see all the content right away. More will be added as we play!

Developer's Note: Our goal here is to make sure everyone understands the fundamentals before diving into the deeper management systems. We want you to learn how to chop down a tree yourself before you start managing a wood-cutting business.

By experiencing the cause and effect of the core gameplay loop firsthand, you'll have a much stronger understanding of what's happening "under the hood" when you begin scheduling jobs and building production chains later in the game. This foundational knowledge is crucial for mastering the more complex systems you'll encounter. Happy growing!

Introducing PAM, your new in-game assistant!

Meet PAM, your new in-game assistant! PAM greets new Cultivators and is always available via the chat interface to answer questions and guide you through SEED’s gameplay systems. PAM is meant to help you navigate the world of SEED with more ease. You can also rate her responses to help improve future answers.

Objectives

Objectives are here to help you get started in SEED. As you complete early tasks and challenges, you'll unlock new features, apps, and tools to support your journey. Your progress is tracked across all your Seedlings and Societies, so every action counts. Objectives are located on the top right underneath the scroll icon.

Improved Seedling Migration

We've made some big improvements to Seedling Migration, making it much more robust and easier for you to use!

Now, you can seamlessly migrate your seedlings between Societies in different sectors, or even within the same sector. To enable this, you'll need to construct a Space Port in a Society before seedlings can migrate to or from it.

We've also added clearer information to the UI, so you'll always know exactly what items and progress your seedlings will keep (and lose) when they move between Societies. Happy migrating!

Society Selection Update

We've completely redesigned the Society selection experience! Now, when you begin your journey in SEED, you'll find a dedicated visual space that helps you browse and join a Society in the world layer before creating your first seedling and diving into gameplay.

New Catalog App

The Catalog App lets you browse every item in the game and see exactly how to craft it, including the resources and steps required. Plan ahead, craft smarter.

Franchises/NPC Buy and Sell Orders

We're rolling out a new feature that lets NPCs participate in the economy! You'll now find NPC buy and sell orders directly within all Societies. This means more opportunities for you to trade and strategize.

We've set up an initial batch of these orders to be balanced with the game's current state. However, keep in mind that we'll be revisiting and adjusting these when our production chain rework is complete.

For now, all NPC trade orders will be delivered to and from the Kernel, which is a small spaceship located in your society.

Orbital Storage

Tired of leaving your precious items behind when your Seedling migrates to a new Society or Sector? We've got a solution! Introducing Orbital Storage: your secure, accessible personal inventory.

What is Orbital Storage?

Orbital Storage allows you to transfer items seamlessly between different Societies. Think of it as your personal vault in orbit, accessible from any Society where you have Seedlings!

Key Features:

  • Migration Made Easy: Choose which items you want to bring with you when your Seedling migrates to a new Society.

  • Universal Access: No matter which Society your Seedlings are in, you'll have full access to everything stored in your Orbital Storage.

  • Safe from Decay: Items stored in Orbital Storage will never decay, so your valuable goods will stay pristine.

  • Limited Capacity: Your Orbital Storage has a starting capacity of 300 units of volume. Manage your space wisely!
