Release Date

SEED Patch Notes - April 2025 (0.42)

Release Date: 05/05/2025

🌟 Summary

This release is all about making your experience smoother and more fun. We’ve squashed a bunch of bugs and made some balance tweaks to make life easier for you and your Seedlings.

🛠 Major Changes & New Features

Society Roles

  • Society Roles are a way to specialize your Seedlings by guiding their growth in specific Interests, Skills, and Activities.

  • Society Roles include: Baker, Forager, Herbalist, Miner, and Artist.

  • While the game doesn't formally track Society Roles, following one will make your Seedling more efficient in certain tasks, such as crafting and resource gathering.

  • More information on Society Roles can be found in this player guide.

đŸŒ± Seedling Life & Balance Updates

Structures Cost Resources

Placing structures in the landscape now uses resources instead of Seedcoin.

  • Once you place a structure, construction will begin automatically, after the required resources arrive in your inbox and a short wait, the structure will be built.

Crafting Changes

  • The Assembly Table has been renamed to Extractor Assembly Station, now dedicated to crafting Extractors.

  • The Advanced Assembly Table has been renamed the Machine Assembly Station.

  • The Advanced Assembly Table has been renamed to Machine Assembly Station, specializing in crafting advanced Machines.

  • Both stations can now be crafted at the Crafting Table.

  • You can now find a new schematic: “Recycle Crafting Table”

  • Where to use it: Crafting Table

  • What you need: 1x Crafting Table

  • What you get: 3x Stone, 4x Wood

  • Only the seedlings with the necessary skills and who know the schematics for these items can craft the Miner’s Table, the Miner's Workshop, the Miner’s Basic Drill and the Miner’s Advanced Drill.

Updates to Seedling Needs

We’ve added new needs for Seedlings! In addition to food, rest, and social, they now also have hygiene, comfort, bladder, water, and energy needs. Safety needs have been removed.

  • Seedlings can only die if their food or water needs are not met. Other needs, like rest or bladder, will not be fatal but can lead to a crisis state. If a Seedling enters a rest crisis, they will try to find a bed. If none is available, they will sleep on the ground. Similarly, if they are in a bladder crisis and cannot find a toilet, they will wet themselves.

Harvestable Shrubs

  • Harvestable Shrubs Fix: Some shrubs were unintentionally harvestable—this has been corrected.

  • Certain Berry Shrubs previously had the Harvest Herbs activity. This has now been properly updated to Harvest Berries.

Starter Container Adjustments

To emphasize the importance of Stone and Wood for early survival, we've adjusted the starting resources and machines for new Societies. (Existing Societies remain unaffected.)

  • Bricks have been replaced with Wood.

  • Growboxes increased from 1 to 3.

  • Clay, Coal, Copper, and Iron Extractors have been removed from the starter container.

Constitution UI Update

We've revamped the Constitution Window to be more intuitive and user-friendly! Plus, there's now a confirmation dialog for proposals—no more accidental activations.

🐞 Bug Fixes & Performance Improvements

Bug Fixes

  • SEED’s navigation system doesn’t disappear anymore.

  • You can now place furniture on the whole floor of a building.

  • No matter how wild things get with map changes, Campus reconstruction, or moving furniture, your Seedlings will always stay on track! They won’t get stuck, the navigation system will hold strong, and Activities will continue to work smoothly, just as they should.

  • After migrating, the new society you are migrating to will fully load without freezing.

  • Seedlings will remain responsive, and gameplay should continue normally.

  • Seedlings will produce the pending tasks on the Growbox.

  • Delivery Ducks will complete deliveries, and ordered items should arrive as expected.

  • Injury-related activities will not be triggered when Seedlings don’t have any injuries.

  • We resolved multiple issues where certain animations weren’t playing correctly.

  • We fixed various cases where Seedlings were incorrectly positioned when interacting with objects.

  • Seedlings don’t become unresponsive after queued harvest actions

  • You can now change all event details, and each activity you choose only shows up once in the schedule.

  • Seedlings now need to know the workstation schematic achieved at Carpentry Level 1 to be able to craft it.

  • "Handy" trait should only appear once in the trait selection pool.

  • Crafting Tables no longer decay.

  • SEED no longer gets stuck on first launch

  • Seedlings will attempt to resolve Bladder crisis by using nearby toilet. Seedlings will only "Wet" themselves when no valid toilet is present or reachable.

  • Seedlings should recognize an energy crisis and autonomously seek out and use a nearby coffee table. The crisis should resolve once energy rises above the threshold.

  • Seedlings can now do all activities at the miner’s table.

  • There are no more issues with creating sell orders.

  • In the voting process, abstentions should not affect the vote results, especially not before all votes are cast.

  • Issues regarding the in-game camera have been fixed.

  • Seedlings no longer do activities through walls.

  • Seedlings can use Miner's Workshop activities.

  • When creating a new event in the Scheduler, the selected Allowed Activity Categories should remain saved after the event is saved.

  • All trees and stumps on owned plots are now selectable and harvestable.

  • Tree stumps remain grounded after harvesting.

  • Trees remain static during harvesting.

  • You will now be notified about the Seedling entering a Bladder crisis.

  • Visual issues have been resolved.

  • Issues with not being able to click on objects in-game have been fixed.

  • When you migrate to a new society, a pop-up will appear reminding you that you will lose all of your properties, jobs, and relationships during the migration process.

  • Fragmenting a big plot no longer makes new plots overflow onto other society's territory.

  • The UI no longer disappears when you click “Exit Land Mode”.

  • If you already have a Seedling, you’ll no longer be prompted to create a new one or choose a society when restarting the game.

  • Performance Improvements

  • Seedlings can restore their social need more consistently.

  • Bugs regarding building and modifying buildings have been fixed.

  • You can now place items in any building if there is space for it.

  • Global market filters are now working properly.

  • Seedlings no longer spawn underground.

  • Seedlings can now play horseshoes together.

  • Seedlings now correctly enter a visible crisis state well before dying, trigger warning popups, or pass out from extreme sleep deprivation, ensuring players are alerted before death.

  • Iron can now be crafted in the furnace.

  • Outdoor object selection boxes are now functioning properly in all situations.

🔼 Known Issues

  • Problems with splitting plots – Splitting a large initial plot can cause some buildings to be divided across multiple plots, which prevents you from entering Build Mode for those buildings.

  • UI disappearing – In some cases, the user interface (UI) may disappear unexpectedly during gameplay (sometimes after clicking on a building). If this happens, restarting the game usually resolves the issue. We're investigating the cause and working on a fix.

📍Next Steps (upcoming features)

  • Spaceport Construction– The Global Market will remain disabled until societies gain access to spaceports (structures that unlock inter-society communication.) Spaceports will be buildable through the Real Estate Market by those with spaceport management permissions
 or by anarchists.

  • Locked Societies– Some societies will begin unclaimed, open for anyone to claim and set their initial password. Once claimed, the society locks and joining or migrating to it will require the correct password.

  • Society Policies– You will be able to create custom laws for your society.
